13 May 2017 – We were present at the Eco.festival in Basel
Eco.festival is the Swiss forum dedicated to sustainable development. For this 3rd edition, we were happy to join our partner Main Tenir on their booth, to present our activities and recycled soaps.
We were blessed with the sunny weather and lots of visitors, curious to discover #theBetterSoap. People from all ages were keen on learning more about SapoCycle story, understand how we collect discarded soaps from hotels and then recycle them thanks to our partner WohnWerk in Basel. Thanks to all our visitors for their encouragements and positive feedback!

24 February 2017 – SAVIVA donates CHF 4’000 to SapoCycle
At the end of last year, Saviva carried out a survey on the topic of sustainability and the related needs in the Swiss gastronomy and hotel industry. Thanks to Saviva donating CHF 5.- per completed questionnaire, the overall donation amounted to CHF 4’000 in favor of the organization SapoCycle.
The donation check was handed over last Friday, February 17th.
“Collecting used soaps from hotels, recycling them and distributing these soaps to children in developing countries is a great idea, which we would like to support,” says André Hüsler. Mrs Dorothée Schiesser is delighted with the amount received: “We can invest a lot in our projects, which we constantly expand. For example, we carry out a hygienic program in Bulgaria together with the Swiss Red Cross or have distributed about 3’500 soaps with Tischlein Deck Dich last year. “

Handwashing is not only a matter of concerns in developing countries: it is an issue of public health all over the world, including in Switzerland! Therefore, more than 70 children aged of 8 studying at the Swiss International School (SIS) of Basel, have assisted to a project week on SapoCycle, and more precisely on the importance of the handwashing. We accompanied them throughout the week in discovering our project, visiting “Wohnwerk”, and by giving a presentation on the health conditions in developing countries like Cameroon. A learning process as well as an emotional interaction between the generations and with our partners from “Wohnwerk”.
